It is always awkward when someone brings you a gift, and you hadn't thought about getting the giver something ahead of time. Not that you wouldn't get that person a present, you just hadn't thought about it. To save feelings and stress in these uncomfortable situations it is always good to keep a few extra gifts wrapped and set aside, "Just in case." These gifts don't have to be expensive, it is just the thought that counts. Even if the thought didn't come until you were holding a gift you didn't expect.
Keep your eyes open for wonderful sales though out the year, check clearance shelves, and discount sections at different stores. This strategy will save money during one of the most expensive times of the year. (Target has a dollar section in their store, that traditionally has some nice items.) Stock up on lotions, holiday socks, lip glosses, and candles these are always a safe idea. You can tie bows around these gifts, and have them waiting.
Another cute and simple idea is to buy a big container of an assortment of cookie cutters. You can pair these cutters up, tie a tag and ribbon onto them, and you are set. This makes for a simple thank you gift, also.
Adults aren't the only people who end up with someone giving them a gift that they weren't expecting, this happens to children too. The only difference is that the child giving the gift, usually, thinks that they are definitely getting one in return. Grab a few extra slinkys, a big selection of Play Doe, holiday socks, winter hats, gloves, and anything else that kids love. Pretty them up, and have them waiting! If you have anything left over, No Problem, you will be set for the next last minute birthday party your child has been invited too!
Christmas is always a hectic time of year, it is hard to remember everything we need to do. Make life easier for yourself, and your kids, take the stress out of the, "She bought me a present, and I didn't know." situations. It doesn't mean you should feel bad for forgetting someone from your list, we're all human.
Remember, also, you don't need to hand out presents to everyone you know, this ill get super expensive. Keep it simple, it's the thought that counts, right down to a homemade card.
