“Cut Me Some Slack” is one of the hottest music tracks in the news today after being a big winner for Best Rock Song at the 56th Grammy Awards. Web Pro News shares this Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, that not only were “Cut Me Some Slack” singers Dave Grohl, Sir Paul McCartney, Krist Novoselic, and Pat Smear one of the highlights of the show, but the group was proud to accept the prize, despite some tough competition this year. The award marks Grohl’s second win at the major musical event: both Best Rock Song and Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.

After “Cut Me Some Slack” was called out as the winner for the genre at last night’s Grammy Awards, the 45-year-old Foo Fighters’ singer accepted the honor alongside his fellow band members, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear, as well as the legendary Sir Paul McCartney. The hit song was able to beat out both “Panic Station” by Matthew Bellamy from Muse and “God is Dead?” by Black Sabbath for top prize.

“We wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Paul and for Ringo,” Dave Grohl said from the stage. “This song was two hours in my studio. I called up Paul and said, ‘Hey, man, do you want to come jam with some friends of mine?’ He came over, we knocked this out in a couple of hours, and to me, that’s what rock’n'roll is all about.”

Sir Paul McCartney had his own words to add in the brief acceptance speech for the Best Rock Song music award.

“He said, ‘Do you want to come over and do a jam on ‘Long Tall Sally?’ I said, ‘No, we’ve been there, done that. We should make something up, and that’s what this is.”

“Cut Me Some Slack” was a song that served as an integral piece of the documentary film titled “Sound City,” which was both produced and directed by Grohl. He said that he felt a spark to create the film after buying a number of meaningful items from Sound City Studios (the venue closed back in 2011).

“Along with McCartney, other notable musicians also appeared in the film and on the soundtrack including Stevie Nicks, Rick Springfield, and Trent Reznor, forming a supergroup called The Sound City Players.”
