It was a bittersweet moment over the weekend as hundreds of Scooby’s family, friends, media outlets and supporters gathered to honor the legacy of Curtis “Scooby” Senior with his new street located at 14th Avenue North and Jefferson Street.
This achievement came after the city's voice, community leaders andans sent thousands of emails requesting a street be named Curtis "Scooby" Senior to the council members. Councilman Lonnell Matthews, Jr. was in attendance for the event and was a strong voice in making the street come together.
The 101.1 Da Beat family consisting of Pamela Aneise, Dolewite, Jones, Zac Boog, DJ Crisis, Lunchbox, and AG were elated with all the love and support they received since the passing of their beloved radio personality Scooby last February. They smiled for photos and spoke to the radio station and Scooby fans.
Looking around you could feel the love in the air. Scooby was always such a sweet spirit and demonstrated love and respect for others.
Morning 101.1 Da Beat radio personality Jones said, "Scooby was a friend, brother and mentor. He served his community well and was an example for myself and others. Curtis Scooby Senior represents HipHop in Nashville. Im so excited for him to be honored and remembered this way."
Dolewite, best friend and ½ of the Dolewite and Scooby radio show expressed his love and appreciation rocking Scooby’s street name T-shirt, which were for sale at the unveiling of his street for $10.00.
He posed on the ladder pointing to the new street name and then it was like a domino effect in the sense everybody wanted their shot at taking a photo on the ladder with Scooby’s street name.
Overall, it was a great historical moment for Jefferson Street and I’m sure Nashville will continue to honor Curtis “Scooby” Senior’s legacy. #ForeverScooby!
