Curtis Finch Jr. brought Mariah Carey to tears on "American Idol" Thursday.
Performing a rendition of "Superstar" by Luther Vandross, Finch showed off his vocal range and captivated both the audience and the judges.
"I feel thoroughly cleansed of my sins," Keith Urban joked. "I thought that was beautiful. There were parts that were over performed, but your voice is beautiful."
Equally impressed, Nicki Minaj said Finch is well on his way.
"Every time you step on stage you take the competition to another level. Today you used a lower bass register at the beginning. So darling, you are well on your way. It's your time," said Minaj.
Randy Jackson enjoyed the performance, but suggested that Finch make his performances more youthful and apt for his age in the future.
"Your voice is unparalleled. You can really go there. If you move ahead in the competition, you're 25, make sure you keep it young. Don't let it get so old fashion," said Jackson.
Emotionally touched, Mariah Carey loved the performance.
"It moved me to tears as it always does. Your voice and your musicality is who you are and I love you for it," said Carey.
With a well received performance to his credit, Curtis Finch Jr. was quickly moved forward to the next stage of the competition.
