Cursed Mountain Nintendo Wii review

Harvey Birdman was pushed one too many times by Phil Ken Sebben...

Cursed Mountain is one of the most highly anticipated games of 2009 and was released recently to good reviews. I highly anticipated the game and thought it would be one of the best games ever on the Wii. While I thought the game was great, to me; it failed to meet the lofty expectations I gave it in my preview for Cursed Mountain

Presentation wise, Cursed Mountain is incredible. The graphics are dark and crisp which provides for a spooky atmosphere that is genuinely scary. The sound is the highlight of the game. It has the best scary music in a video game ever. Nothing comes close. Even the sound effects blend in well with the graphics to provide a survivor horror game the likes of which we’ve never seen before.

The gameplay is great at times and at other times terrible. The game is very slowly paced with an emphasis on exploration. Another problem is the auto save. It is the only way to save the game. That being said the innovations from this game are brilliant. I loved the spells and axes for combat instead of guns, which is so overused. The mystical element this game has is pure genius. It is a true breath of fresh air in what can be considered a tired genre.

Here is the beginning of Cursed Mountain:

Cursed Mountain is one of the best games on the Wii. I’m mainly down on the game because of the controls and the slow pacing. Otherwise this game was absolutely outstanding and well up to my expectations. Everything from the story to the graphics and especially the sound were amazing. If you want more information on the game please see my extended review of Cursed Mountain here.
