Spoiled today Oct. 16, 2013 in a post to the Australia and New Zealand organized play Facebook fan page, Curse of Predation is one of the newest "Magic: The Gathering" card from "Commander (2013 Edition)." This green uncommon enchantment can help keep your adversaries from attacking you and is especially fun if you love playing the politics of multiplayer games.
Curse of Predation - 2G
Enchantment - Aura Curse (Uncommon)
Whenever a creature attacks enchanted player, put a +1/+1 counter on it.
"Hunters feed on the fear of their prey."
Curse of Predation give all players an incentive to attack a specific rival, in this case rewarding them (including yourself) by making their creatures ever so slightly bigger with a +1/+1 counter every time any creature attacks the player that you've cursed. It's important to note that the creatures will gain the +1/+1 counter before blockers are assigned, meaning the threats will deal more damage and be harder to kill right away.
Curse of Predation can divert your enemy's attention for a short while, at least until the person who was cursed has been killed. Afterwards their eyes will be set back on you, except this time their threats will be even bigger than before.
Curse of Predation can benefit you more than other players if you control a Doubling Season or Corpsejack Menace. In a deck filled with cards that care about +1/+1 counters like Ghave, Guru of Spores you'll be able to gain extra mileage out of Curse of Predation.
Don't forget that just because Curse of Predation is in a commander deck that doesn't mean you can't use it elsewhere. Curse of Predation can still be powerful in one on one matches, with an anthem-like effect that grows stronger every time you attack your opponent.
How will you use Curse of Predation?
