Curse of Naxxramas release date revealed

July 22nd, 2014!
July 22nd, 2014!

Well, I hate to say I told you so.

After what feels like an eternity of waiting, Blizzard finally puts all of our fears to rest with the announcement that our first Adventure mode expansion, Curse of Naxxramas, will release the Arachnid Quarter section on Tuesday, July 22nd for Windows, Mac, and iPad.

As I said in my previous article, this expertly gets the expansion to us well within the given window of 'July' and has the final wing releasing during the final week in August. The September season will be the first full season in which all of the new Naxxramas cards are available to players who have purchased the expansion, so hopefully the metagame will be far more diverse than what we've gotten used to for the past few months. It should be interesting to see how decks begin to slowly change with the weekly release schedule for the various wings and the cards contained within them. Will classes that are able to unlock the new hero cards through class challenges in early wings have a temporary advantage over the classes whose cards are still potentially a month away? Time will tell.

In case you want to calculate how much gold you need to save in time to check purchase the various wings on the day they release you check out the official pricing announcement from two weeks ago, or simply multiply however many wings you'll be wanting to purchase (out of 5 total) by 700 gold. The first wing will be released free as long as you log in and try it out within the launch window. Blizzard hasn't officially said when that window closes, but my money is on September 1st, so get in there and download it starting Tuesday!

I'll be reviewing the various wings as they release, so stay tuned for those over the next five weeks. See you in Naxxramas!
