CUPID and WHIM Launch New Mobile Apps in Los Angeles

Digital dating is becoming more popular in Los Angeles with the launch of Cupid.com’s presence in the U.S. and new dating app Whim rolling out for singles looking for love online.

To celebrate, Cupid.com, a well-established successful dating site in the UK, hosted a private VIP party and screening of the film Coherence for singles in Los Angeles at the Vista Theatre before the film was released to the public.

Members of the cast and crew mingled with Cupid’s members during the festivities.

Cupid’s mobile app is now available for Android users in the Windows store, and on Google Play. iOS users can download the mobile app for the iPhone and iPad. It’s simple to use and has easy ways to search for your date without filling out long questionnaires.

When you log in, you can access your mobile phone’s photos to easily select a few to add to your Cupid profile. Searching is simple, so you can scroll down the list of potential dates that meet your parameters locally either all in a grid, or you can scroll down to view photos. Users have the choice of chatting, sending an email, or sending a wink. The map feature allows you to see thumbnails of your potential dates, based on where they are located locally. Visit Cupid.com and follow @cupid_dating on Twitter.

A newcomer to the industry, Whim dating launched on the mobile browser this week in Los Angeles. Their tagline is “Go on a date tonight.” Whim is still in beta, but their native app will be released in August for iOs and Android users. Their approach is to have singles meet online and to meet offline in a Grouper meets Coffee Meets Bagel style of dating.

What makes them unique is they will send you a text at 4:30pm so you can check out your possible dates for the evening and select the ones you like. By 6:00pm, you’ll be set up with someone who was a mutual match. Setting up a profile takes only three minutes and users sign in through Facebook. Like Tinder, it pulls information from you Facebook page and you can fill in the blanks for your smoking and drinking habits or edit any private information such as your occupation or education. Visit Whim.la and follow @whimla on Twitter.

At the end of the digital day, mobile dating is speeding up the process for singles on the dating scene. I encourage you to download the mobile apps of Cupid.com and Whim to ramp up your search.
