Cupcake Camp Miami 2014 Baker Spotlight: Wonder Cupcakes

See also

At the first Cupcake Camp event three years ago, Claudia, or Clao as her friend's call her, showed up to the event as a home baker with hands full of cupcakes to share with everyone. This year, Claudia is still showing up with cupcakes, but this time she is showing up as the face of her cupcakery Wonder Cupcakes. Before meeting Claudia and sampling her cupcakes at this weekend's Cupcake Camp Miami 2014 event, Claudia answered a few questions about Wonder Cupcakes.

How did you come up with that Wonder Cupcakes?
My sister and I came up with the time and thought it was very unique. I like to read comics and one of my favorite characters is Wonder Woman. She is a unique individual and one of my ultimate favorite quotes from her is:

"Be creative.
Be adventurous.
Be original."

I try to establish that quote in my everyday life, but when it comes to cupcakes my mind is an open book putting in new ideas and making new flavors. It's a journey I like to follow and share it with everyone through cupcakes. I guess you can say Wonder Woman is my inspiration!

What inspires you to bake?
I love baking. It’s my passion. I love to put my flavors and my decorations. I see it like art and when someone enjoys my cupcake and they want more …it makes me super happy and I just want to bake more and come up with more flavors.

What is your favorite thing that you offer?
I like to make people happy and I offer excellent quality at fair prices. People have also complimented me on my efficiency with meeting deadlines with orders.

What is your bestselling item?
My bestselling item is my red velvet signature cupcake with gold frosting. This is my company trademark and people love the cherry on top as a little extra personal touch.

What are your baking hopes for the upcoming year?
This year I would like to pursue more with my baking business. I believe that when you love doing something that is your passion, you can grow and succeed in your goals.

What has been your biggest kitchen disaster?
When I started experimenting with cupcake flavors it was always a messy kitchen. Now that I know what goes with each cupcake, I have improved a lot.

Describe your cupcakes in three words.
Three words I can describe my cupcakes is OCD for Obsessive Cupcake Disorder. You will be an addict for cupcakes.

What advice do you have for others who are considering baking as a career?
My advice would be: do not give up on baking. If you would like to come out with different things go on and just do it. You never know what you got until you actually try it and do it.

Do you do custom orders?
Yes, I do custom orders, but only when given in advance. I want to meet customers' expectations and make sure their orders are done correctly and the way they want them, so I need time for them. Plus, I always like new challenges.

What is the price range for your sweets?
My mini cupcakes are 1.25 each and $14.50 per dozen. Our standard cupcake is $2.00 each and $24 per dozen.

What is the best way to place an order?
Best way would be by email at cparamo6986@gmail.com or phone at (954) 665-9521.

Where should people go to find out more?
I will be having a web site soon, it is under construction.
