Cunard Line's Queen Elizabeth makes maiden call at Halong Bay in Vietnam

Cunard Line's Queen Elizabeth made her maiden call in Vietnam on Monday March 31, 2014 at the port of Halong Bay. What makes this a fantastic call is the fact that the Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the site of a filming of a James Bond movie. The Bay is known for its marvelous island chain and sheer rock pillars.

The port of call comes over half way through Queen Elizabeth's annual Round World voyage, which left Southampton on Jan. 10, 2014. She has sailed through the Panama Canal, has visited San Francisco, Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia, Japan and China. She arrived in Halong Bay after an overnight stay in Hong Kong. Next, Queen Elizabeth will visit Singapore, Sri Lanka, India and Dubai before arriving back in Southampton on May 9, 2014 after a 118-night sailing, calling on 40 ports in 23 different countries.

Southampton is a relatively easy port to access if you want to cruise Queen Elizabeth and are currently in the Charlotte area. The flight to London from Charlotte's Douglas International Airport is between 8 and 9 hours and the travel to the port is minimal from London.
