If you are looking for something different, say a microbrewed beer from Mexico, Cucapa's Chupacabras Pale Ale is not it.
First, beer in a can needs to be left to blue collar lagers; right now it is the only thing going for them. That is not to say that someday microbrews in a can will be worth purchasing. In fact, there are already a handful out there but none worth mentioning, yet. If you do happen to find a microbrew that you enjoy and it is offered in a can, at least do it justice and poor it into a glass.
Second, a fancy Hispanic name, and a local Mexican restaurant are clever ways to cover up a mediocre beer. They put "Pale Ale" in the name but it is far from a classic Ale. There is the no aroma beyond aluminum because you are drinking it out of a can. It is near flat. There is hardly any taste except the unhappy bitterness that is left in your mouth after you swallow and realize you just dropped $4 for cloudy water.
If you find yourself at El Mundo on Frankfort Avenue, go for a Bell's or Dogfish Head instead. Although Chupacabras could be better from a bottle, you should wait 'till you are in the country it is brewed since there is no guarantee it was brewed within the same year.
If you have information about a microbrew or place to cheers in Louisville, post it in the comments or contact Aaron at http://starvedbacon.com.
