October 21, 2011 – Cuban born, New Jersey raised, Oscar Nunez, a TV staple these days as Oscar Martinez in The Office, is Adam Lebowitz in Language of a Broken Heart, playing tomorrow Saturday as part of the Hollywood Film Festival.
Language of a Broken Heart is a romantic comedy written by Juddy Talt, the first feature film for this USC graduate who resembles Ashton Kutcher a little, and who wrote the script based on his own experiences as the victim of serial heartbreaks.
Oscar Nunez enjoyed playing the character of “an inept shrink in the midst of his midlife crisis,” a Cuban therapist who converted into Judaism in an attempt to get over his own heartbreak. Completely inadequate to help his client, the character provides the funniest lines of the movie, with outrageous pick-ups and silly phrases like: “What comes before Part B?” he asks of Nick Brown (played by Talt). “PART-AAAAAA!!!!!”
“My wife and I read the part,” says Nunez, “and we both really liked it. And it was a lot of fun to make.” Nunez did not know anyone involved with this production prior to the “two or three days we spent in Dallas filming,” but now he has new friends in the co-stars and the film’s director, Rocky Powell. As far as the movie’s subject matter, Nunez finds it “a universal subject,” about love, hate, and everything in between.
Language of a Broken Heart is a funny story that brings the “been there” feeling to the viewer and which will delight book lovers since, at the end, it is a common love for books that puts two hearts together.
The Hollywood Film Festival starts today and continues until Monday October 24 at the ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood. Language of a Broken Heart will showcase tomorrow Saturday October 22 at 7 pm. You can purchase tickets tomorrow online here or at the theater’s box office.
