October 15, 2011 – Orquesta Aragon, a 72 year old institution from Havana, Cuba, performed at the Conga Room this Thursday. With 14 men on stage, the charanga group played the Cuban dance music that has made them famous and taken them in concert to more than 30 countries.
There were quite a few VIPs in attendance, including percussionist Pete Escovedo and his daughter (famous percussionist) Sheila E., Dancing With The Stars competitors J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff, and bandleader Ricardo Lemvo, who joined Orquesta Aragon on stage to sing a few songs.
This was one of the Conga Room’s most anticipated concerts as it had been many years since Orquesta Aragon had last performed in Los Angeles. The Conga Room will continue its series of high profile numbers on October 28th with Venezuelan Salsa star Oscar D’Leon.
