Cuauhtémoc Blanco Signs With Puebla

The past few years for Cuauhtémoc Blanco have been a case of so close, but so far away. He's been in the Ascenso MX looking to get various squads up to the first division and has failed to do so. His latest excursion was with Lobos BUAP saw his squad also end up short of the ultimate goal.

This is why the former Mexican international and Club América icon came to terms with Puebla and at 41 years of age will be part of a first division squad next season. The club announced that they as well as the player and América (owner of his player pass) via social media today.

At Puebla he will join US international DaMarcus Beasley with Los Camoteros starting in the next Apertura tournament. This acquisition also a great deal of speculation that after the end of this season it would be the last season that Cuauhtémoc would play and would begin the search for a potential coaching job.

A few months ago, Blanco mentioned that this past Clausura season was going to be his last, but then changed his mind after his team struggled out of the gate. This would be the first time that Blanco would play in the first division since he was on loan with Santos Laguna back in 2008.
