CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital Open House

Spring is finally here, which means the annual CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital Open House is just around the corner. This is an educational and fun event that animal enthusiasts of all ages will enjoy.

The open house will be held on Friday, March 30 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 31 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital located at 300 W. Drake Road in Fort Collins. All open house events are free and open to the public.

The open house includes lectures, demonstrations, tours through the hospital and more than 15 display booths filled with animal information. There will also be a petting zoo for the kids on Saturday only. This event is coordinated and run by students in the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences’ Professional Veterinary Medical Program. Hospital tours run throughout the day and are usually 30-45 minutes long, with the last tours starting at 3:00 p.m. Large groups are encouraged to make reservations by calling (970)297-1269.

The event schedule includes:

Friday, March 30

6:00 - 7:00 p.m. – “Is This an Emergency for my Pet?”

7:30 - 8:30 p.m. – Pet First Aid Workshop

The Friday evening presentations are limited to 60 attendees, so please RSVP to if you are planning to attend.

Saturday, March 31

9:30 - 10:30 a.m. – "Weird, Wild and Wacky - Zoological Medicine at CSU" with Dr. Matt Johnston

10:30 - 11:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. (two sessions) – Equine First Aid Lecture and Workshop with Dr. Britta Leise

1:30 - 2:30 p.m. – “So You Want to be a Veterinarian?” with Dr. Sherry Stewart

12:30 - 2:30 p.m. – Fort Collins Police Canine Unit Training Demonstration

2:30 - 3:30 p.m. – CAT Scans for Your Dog with Dr. Angela Marolf

One word of caution: Please do not bring your animal to this event or you will not be permitted entry.

This is an event that my children and I look forward to every year and it is not to be missed.
