Crytek opens up on Vigil purchase

Crysis 3 developer, Crytek, recently opened up to Gamasutra about the company's plans for the newly hired members of Vigil Games.

Vigil, developer of the Darksiders franchise, has recently been in the news as one of the few development teams not to be picked up in the THQ bankruptcy auction. Instead, Crytek has hired 35 of Vigil's core staff and opened a new studio in Austin for the crew to occupy.

The new Austin studio is Crytek's first foray into US development. Vigil co-owner David Adams is leading the studio.

So what will the "new" team be working on? "It would be pretty much safe to say that this team will be working on online games[...] and kick-ass triple-A productions. It is going to be quite a significant investment for Crytek over the next five years," Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli told Gamasutra.
