Whether you're a DIYer for yourself or a business craftsperson, embellishment should be second nature to you within your projects. Embellishment can be accomplished with any type of medium. Be it paint, fun stitchery, gems, beads, crystals, feathers, etc. The list goes on and on. But, it is an important list.
When working on any project, before it is marked as “complete” take a step back and a few minutes of silence to go over your masterpiece and study it for missing embellishments. It could be something as small as a metallic stitch line or a tiny blue seed crystal. Whatever it is that is missing will reveal itself to you in time.
Add a few fun and cartoony buttons to the corners of a child’s handmade quilt. Maybe sew on some sequins around the collar of your repurposed t-shirt dress. Embroidery is also an embellishment that can be added to almost any project. Beaded Purses, Glittered jeans, brown and gold stitches on fall jackets, the ideas are endless.
Do you have this perfect crystal wand necklace that just seems to be lacking something? Attach some natural bird feather, or you could even stop off at your local hobby lobby and seek out that perfect set of dyed costume feathers to spice it up.
Remember; before you declare the end of any project…embellish it…just a little more.
