Crystalline Nautilus from 'Journey Into Nyx'

Crystalline Nautilus
Wizards of the Coast

Crystalline Nautilus from Wizards of the Coast's expert "Magic: The Gathering" expansion set "Journey Into Nyx" is a new uncommon blue enchantment creature card that has much more potential than one might suspect at first glance.

Crystalline Nautilus - 2U
Enchantment Creature - Nautilus (Uncommon)
Bestow 3UU (If you cast this card for its bestow cost, it's an Aura spell with enchant creature. It becomes a creature again if it's not attached to a creature.)
When Crystalline Nautilus becomes the target of a spell or ability, sacrifice it.
Enchanted creature gets +4/+4 and has "When this creature becomes the target of a spell or ability, sacrifice it."

For blue, three mana for a 4/4 is a big deal. Yes, there's bit of a drawback, however we'll totally get around that. That downside to Crystalline Nautilus won't matter if you're bestowing it onto a creature with hexproof such as Witchstalker or Sylvan Caryatid.

Forget about bestowing your own creature with Crystalline Nautilus though, and instead let's cast it on one of your rival's. In conjunction with Akroan Mastiff or any other card that allows you to target you'll be able to score a two for one. Not only will your your opponent's threat be dead, you'll land a 4/4 creature to boot. It's a neat trick that can be pulled off easier than one may suspect in limited.

Crystalline Nautilus may not make waves in Standard, however it could help win your next sealed, draft, or casual match.

How will you use Crystalline Nautilus?
