Visitors not familiar with the weekend events thought there was some kind of parade as people lined the streets, in lawn chairs and standing on corners watching the cars cruise up and down Coastal Highway. People were lined along a several mile stretch through the city each day, except Friday which saw smaller crowds outside as heavy rains and flooding keep all but the stoutest inside.

The boardwalk cruise took place Thursday Friday and Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. as cars traveled down the boardwalk from x street to the Inlet Parking Area. Friday’s boardwalk cruise started just as the rain began its day long slog and continued on schedule to the delight of those not threatened with a little rain. Saturday and Sunday were perfect sun filled days with a gentle ocean breeze.

Part of the four day event included a two day auction at the Convention Center were nearly 100 cars were put on the auction block. Express Auctioneers managed and conducted the auction and handled the paperwork for the many cars sold during the two day event.

Headlining the car show and auction at the Convention Center, as well as alternating days at the Ocean City Inlet parking area were Movie stars and TV celebrities. “Horny” Mike from the hit TV show “Counting Cars” along with McKenzie Phillips and Paul LeMat, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the classic cruising movie “American Garffiti” were on hand to meet fans, sign autographs and pose for pictures.

A schedule for next year is already set by Special Event Productions Inc. for May 14 through 17, so mark your calendars.
