A group of the once-stranded cruise ship passengers were put on a bus for their transport home and believe it or not, the bus breaks down. After spending five days stranded on the high seas, what were the odds that their bus home would also render them stranded once again? According to Dallas News on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, a group of the Triumph passengers were stuck in a broken down bus during their last leg of the journey home Friday.
Somewhere on the dark roads between Mobile, Alabama and New Orleans, the bus they were riding in broke down, leaving the passengers in a place they knew all too well, stuck! While this time they were only stranded for a little over an hour, it still was the topper on the vacation that turned nightmare.
The bus was rolling along when all of a sudden it went dark and the driver pulled it over to the side of the road. At least the bus company sent another bus to their rescue in an appropriate amount of time, unlike their cruise ship rescue.
The cruise ship passengers were originally stuck on a Carnival cruise ship when the Triumph’s engine room had a fire rendering the ship powerless. Within a day the luxury vacation turned into a saga of survival as raw sewage spilled into the cabins and the bathroom facilities weren’t working.
People used plastic bags to go the bathroom in. Food ran out and fights broke out over the little bit of supplies that were left on the ship. By day three of being stranded, the passengers were eating cold onion sandwiches and sleeping on deck in make-shift tents made from sheets.
Talk about adding insult to injury after surviving that ordeal, they climb aboard a bus that breaks down, delaying once again their arrival home.
