Light up the holidays. Savor a sparkling evening at the 51st annual Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade on Saturday, December 14, 2013 from 5:55 p.m. until 8 p.m. This dazzling event blasts off with fireworks on the jetty near the entrance of the main channel. Bring the family. It's free!
Get ready for some "Holiday Magic," which also happens to be the parade theme. Former Lakers coach Phil Jackson, and Jeanie Buss, the President of Business Operations of the Los Angeles Lakers operation are Grand Marshals. Boats twinkling with lights begin circling the marina at 6 p.m., brightening the channel until 8 p.m. Eager to join the parade? Fill out the entry form on the site, and pay the registration fee. Any size vessel is welcome.
Watch the festivities from Burton Chace Park, where KFWB-AM news anchor, Lisa Osborne, and cartoon voice over actor, Mickey Laszlo, keep the party going with live commentary from the judges viewing stand. Piped in music adds to the holiday spirit. Or, splurge on a Hornblower Cocktail Cruise for the best seats on the sea.
There is no street parking in Marina del Rey, but parking is free at the numerous county public parking lots in the marina listed here.
