With the beginning of spring we find that the calendar is already full with upcoming automotive events including the weekly local cruise nights. Here in Southern New England, local club “The Wheels of Time” are starting their cruise nights on Thursday, April 10th and will continue through October 9th on alternating Thursdays. Once again, the WOT are back at the Raynham Dog Track on Rte 138 with plenty of parking, DJ and the snack shack.
Wednesday cruise nights return to Star Drive In located on Rte 79 on the Taunton/Lakeville town line. Star Drive In is a throw back to the malt shops of the 50’s and 60’s with good food at great prices. Arrive early as it fills up quickly.
The big dog of cruise nights is also on Thursdays at Bass Pro Shop located at the mall at Patriot Place, Foxboro, starting on April 17th. It alternates also so it’s every other week and it usually does not interfere with the Raynham Cruise. If you haven’t been to this one, try to make it at least once. In the depths of summer, anywhere from 1500 to 2500 antiques and classics mob the parking lot. It’s a sensory overload as you will find an example of almost anything you can imagine.
In Rhode Island, check out local favorites such as Mondays at Cardi’s Rte 2, Warwick and Tuesdays at the A&W on Rte 44 in Greenville as well as Fridays at McDonalds on Rte 122 in Cumberland. Check with Cruisin’ Bruce’s website for further details.
Finally, the trophy shows also begin in April with the Fitchburg Airport Car Show and Swap Meet in Fitchburg, MA on Sunday, April 27th as well as Francis Farms on Rte 118 Rehoboth, MA on Saturday, April 26th. Pay attention to your local car club websites, local news outlets as well as the dozens of pamphlets that usually find their way onto your front seat at any event. The season is upon us so make it a good one. Let the games begin!
