Crown coated raisins spark allergy alert

A warning has been issued by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, stating that Crown brand Bitter Chocolate Coated Raisins may contain milk that is not stated on the label. The product could prove dangerous for people with dairy allergies.

The affected product has an expiry date of July 7, 2013 (UPC code 8 43167 07286 8), and is sold in 160 gram packages. The product is currently being sold in selected stores.

The product was imported from Israel and distributed on Quebec, Ontario, and possibly elsewhere in Canada. So far, no reports of any illnesses linked to the product have been reported.

The CFIA is working with importers to remove the affected product from the shelves.
