Crowded House recently hit the Los Angeles area for a series of events in support of their current Cd "Intriguer". The band performed a free acoustic show at Amoeba followed a record signing. The band then did a full 2 hour 15 concert at the Club Nokia.
Formed in Australia in 1985, the group reunited in 2006 following a 10 year break and the death of original drummer Paul Hester. The group, lead by New Zealand native singer/ songwriter Neil Finn performed all
their greatest hits and new songs to a newly full house.
Finn was in vocal fine form as he switched off between guitar and piano while performing songs. The group even threw in a few songs by Finn's early group Split Enz. Finn performed an excellent version of
"Message To My Girl" with just him on piano.
Other show highlights were “Distant Sun”, “Hole in the River" and "Locked Out".
Band members Mark Hart, Nick Seymour and Matt Sherrod kept the beat going with their great musicianship on guitars, keyboards and drums.
The band performed their biggest and most well known hit "Don't Dream It's Over" earlier in the set then suspected, however the song sounded just as good today as it did on the original recording. Other songs
performed were "Fall At Your Feet", "Elephants" and "Saturday Sun" to name a few.
The band added guest appearances by Sharon Finn and show opener Lawrence of Arabia's front man James Milne who sang "Weather With You" with Finn. Finn told that crowd that Milne was filling in for his
brother Tim, who he dedicated the song too. The song ended with an audience sing along and an end mash up of Talking Heads' "Once In A Lifetime".
The band closed their set out with the song "Better Be Home Soon".
Crowded House proved with their entertaining show that 80s music is still going strong today with the number of artists from that era touring this year. The crowd cheered, danced, sang along and enjoyed
the show.
Crowed House is currently on the road in the states until Sept 9, then will break before continuing their tour in Europe though mid November.

A nice review and glad you liked the show! However, you didn't mention that they just released a new album,"Intriguer", in July of this year (which is what this tour is promoting), and another album relatively recently in 2007. This is not a nostalgia tour with 1980s music. Neil Finn is a musical genius and continues to create quality melodic rock music that is far under-appreciated in the U.S.
