One of our very own local bands Crossing Rubicon is opening for a national act at Toad's Place in New Haven, CT on Friday August 22, 2014 at 8pm.
Crossing Rubicon is one of those bands that every time you hear them play, the music brings life to the stage. They blend hard hitting, heavy riffs with melodic vocals and guitar harmony to create their own brand of metal.
What we know today began as a two man project in 2009 by Scotty Anarchy and Pete Ahern (Red China Blue), sadly Pete stepped away from the band in the summer of 2010. They enlisted Brandi Hood on drums to be the heart beat of the band, Zach Lambert signed on to complete the guitar attack. In 2010 Jeff Diablo joined to round out the lineup. In March of 2011 Matt Douglas stepped in and completed Crossing Rubicon. In late 2013 Bassist Jeff Diablo stepped away and was replaced by Steven Riccio. With out any of the members new and old they would not be where they are today.
Success continued through the last couple of years and the band landed opening slots with Motley Crue, Bret Michaels, and Tantric. They have also shared the stage with many national notables including Crossfade, Nonpoint, Saving Abel, Pop Evil, Rev Theory, and Beatalica as well as earning the sole opening slot on Queensryche's 30th anniversary tour in Hartford, CT. Today the band is working on it's full length debut.
The Band's first EP, In Pains of Sleep, was released in March at a sold out local show. Crossing Rubicon writes music often described as a throwback to the classic metal but thrive on modern rock sound mixing Avenge Sevenfold with Alice In Chains. Throw in the guitar pyrotechnics of Black Label Society and the rumble of a Sherman tank...Crossing Rubicon 2014!
