The latest craze in fitness has finally made its way to Fairmount. CrossFit, the fitness phenomenon that is sweeping the nation, has recently landed in Francisville on 1530 Parrish St. The new box invites fitness enthusiasts of all levels to come and “get in the best shape of your life.”
If you’re among many other young Fairmount residents who are no longer living under the safety of their parents’ roof, you may be wondering, “What does it cost to get in the best shape of your life?” Hold on to your wallets, kids.
- One drop-in class will set you back $20 (that’s the price of five Bud Lights at Urban Saloon).
- One month unlimited classes will burn a $169 hole in your pocket.
- One month of classes with a max of three classes per week will cost you $149 (or roughly eight round-trip cab rides into the city).
- If you are brand new to CrossFit you will need to complete six introductory OnRamp classes, which is $110 at CrossFit Fairmount.
Long story short, if you are pinching pennies, you may be able to find a more cost effective way to get in shape. Perhaps you can take a nice jog down Kelly Drive, free of charge.
However, if you are willing to invest the time and money, CrossFit Fairmount explains that CrossFit Training “will provide you with a well rounded program that achieves best results in a short time.”
What is CrossFit?
For those of you living under a rock, simply put, CrossFit is a workout program based on all aspects of fitness including: strength, endurance, agility, balance, stamina, flexibility and speed. Individually and in small groups, you’ll lift weights, kettle bells and tires. You’ll perform burpees, box jumps and pull-ups. These military-style workouts are short, some less than 10 minutes, but they are intense.
CrossFit Fairmount offers a variety of times to workout between Monday and Saturday. For more information and to sign up, visit CrossFit Fairmount or call 267-560-7149. CrossFit Fairmount is located at 1530 Parrish St., Philadelphia, PA 19130.
