Crosby cruises 7-0 over C.E. King

The Crosby Cougars celebrated Military Appreciation Day at Cougars Field on Saturday afternoon cruising to a 7-0 win over the C.E. King Panthers at Cougars Field in Crosby.
Crosby starter Austin Hearn struggled in the opening two frames leaving the bases loaded in the first and pitching out of a two jam in the second. After that, the Crosby righthander shutdown the Panthers on one hit over the next four innings at one point setting down eight straight.
The Cougars who went quietly in the first broke through against Panther starter Mark Ruiz in the second with an rbi single from Jonathan Riffle in the eight hole. Catcher Sean Bergeron belted a two run homer that hugged the left field line as it cleared the fence helping Crosby to a 4-0 lead after three.
The red and white put the game away in the home half of the six scoring three more times on rbi hits by Mario Squera and Justin Cegielski . Sequera singled home Riffle who reached on a dropped third strike and then the Crosby centerfielder scampered home followed by Tim Langley when Justin cegielski ripped a 1-2 pitch inside the third base bag to complete the scoring.
Hearn pitched six strong innings surrendering 3 hits, 2walks and no runs striking out eight before giving way to Chase Stripling and Langley to close out the seventh.
The win improved Crosby to 6-3 in District 19-4A play.
