Less than one month ago, the Cincinnati Bearcats stood poised to capitalize on early season victories over Maryland and Vanderbilt and a strong RPI by working their way into the NCAA Tournament. Instead, just 6 games later, the Bearcats have backed into the Big East Tournament as an 11 seed (out of 16) hoping to stop a 3 game losing streak and salvage a bit of dignity to finish the season.

The Bearcats (16-13; 7-11 Big East) will face Rutgers in the first round of the Big East Tournament Tuesday night (9:00 P.M.). If UC beats Rutgers for a second time this season, they'll move on to play No. 6 Louisville Wednesday night. An appearance in the third round would mean a rematch with Bob Huggins' No. 3 seed Mountaineers.
The 'Cats have lost 5 of their last 6 games, their lone win coming against last place DePaul. Their last regular season game was their worst of the season as they fell to a slumping Georgetown team by 27 points.
The odds favor that losing streak continuing, as the Bearcats have never won a Big East tourney game under Cronin or since their entrance into the league in 2005.

For the 2nd year in a row the UC players quit on their Division II coach. And to think AD Thomas is going to bring him back again. Players quit now fans quit and Gronin gets rewarded go figure.
