Crochet stitches visual encyclopedia

Crochet Stitches Visual Encyclopedia is a hardcover book of 300 stitch patterns, edgings and more by Robyn Chachula. Robyn has included a number of stitches that I am unfamiliar with. The breadth of the stitch collection will have you sampling these stitches and thinking about how to show them off best.

The chapters are divided into 36 different  stitch categories over nine chapters. All stitch patterns have written directions as well as a chart (the video on the left, has Robyn explaining charts). The photographs, though not large, are crystal clear. Tunisian as well as colorwork, unique lace and trendy granny squares are  swatched for you viewing pleasure.

She gives tips throughout the book. These are priceless tidbits that will help you navigate and perfect the stitch. Robyn's hints enhance stitch definition, tricks that make crocheting the stitch easier and tips on yarn, color choice...

My latest concentration has been crochet cables. Twisted Columns, Jeobneun Stitch, Arabel Stitch, Arabel Cable and Masterpiece cable will keep me busy for sometime. I love the fact you can crochet a cable and the results look professional and complex without all the fuss.

Here is a free crochet pattern of Robyn's "Maggie Wrap". Robyn started out as a structural Engineer, this pattern shows off her ability to break things down into smaller components and then add them back to make a finished garment.

If you are looking for a gift for a crochet friend, you found it. This reference guide will be a valuable part of your fixed library. If you are a knitter, don't fret. Wiley has just published Knitting Stitches Visual Encyclopedia by Sharon Turner.
