Janet Rehfeldt is the author of "Crochet Pink", 26 patterns to crochet for comfort, gratitude and charity. Pink is the color of breast cancer awareness. The patterns cover slippers, hats, scarves, throws, a tote, socks and more. There are projects for every skill level. 'Getting Started' shows you yarn substitution, special crochet stitches, finishing and blocking.

'Ripple and Lace Stole' is striking in the color Woodrose. The yarn is self striping in a chevron pattern that looks more difficult than the skill required for an intermediate level. It is machine washable and has a slight bloom to it. The 'Infinity Cowl' has different wearable options. The look is lacy and worked in two colors. The circumference is 76" by a width of 16".

'Gossamer Lace Jacket' (cover photo) is the perfect cover-up to remove a chill in the air. It is elegant in mohair, silk and wool with a crossover front and collar. The body is worked in one piece and the sleeves are added. Cold feet? 'Picot-A-Boo Lace-or Not-Socks' has a skill level of easy. It is worked with an afterthought heel and the option to add the picot lace edge around the cuff or not. The socks are crocheted using a superwash wool, so just throw them in the washing machine without worry. If you enjoy crocheting or knitting socks, Janet has published several books.

If you want to crochet any of these items (see slideshow) in another color...the book includes the colors that represent other types of cancers. Do you know someone who has cancer? They will spend long hours in doctors waiting rooms and receiving chemotherapy. Teaching them to crochet, will help pass the time and give them the feeling of accomplishment and control. For knitters, "Knit Pink" (a companion book) by Lorna Miser is the way to go.
