Here is a granny stitch motif hat that begins a bit differently, with a five cornered center instead of a four cornered center. By using a pentagon instead of a square, a hat can be shaped in a more human-like rounded manner. Size variances can be achieved by using a smaller or larger hook or by adding additional rows and rounds—for width, work another round of corners, for length, add more rows before working the border. Since this hat uses less than two ounces of yarn, it’s perfect for using up scraps. If you have a full seven ounce skein, you can make four hats. If you’re using a Pounder, you can make nine hats. If you would like to ornament your hat with a rose, here is a free ROSE PATTERN
