Crochet and knit poppy patterns to honor war veterans

"The greatest casualty is being forgotten." Red poppies are the symbol of Remembrance Day worldwide. The blood red poppy waved in the wind and was the first flower to bloom on the battlefields of Flanders. The day for remembering our fallen on all the bloody battlefields of war has been set aside as Veteran's Day since 1918 when on Armistice Day, a treaty was signed at the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month to end World War I. Knit or crochet a poppy with these free patterns to give or wear on your lapel in remembrance.
