One of my favorite patterns to use when making an afghan is called the Granny Square Afghan. The reason I like it -- the pattern is incredibly easy, it's quick, and you can use whatever colors you wish to make a really cool afghan!
I have made numerous of these afghans, changing the size depending on who I'm giving it to and changing the colors as well to compliment who is receiving the blanket. I've made them for babies, I've made lapghans and I've made big ones to cover a queen size bed. Whew! Again, they are fun, easy and quick!
Here's the pattern if you wish to make one. The pattern is available from LionBrand for free.
