What's keeping Cristo Rey Jesuit students busy this summer? Working for corporate sponsors or at other part-time jobs, completing service hours, and taking advantage of special enrichment opportunities are just some of the things they are doing.

Pre-College Living and Learning
This summer, six Cristo Rey Jesuit students are participating in competitive programs that will introduce them to the college living and learning environment. Student Government Association President Brian Reynolds '11 is headed to Georgetown University's month-long, all-expenses paid program for students from Cristo Rey Network schools.

Two other rising seniors are headed north to Fairfield University in Connecticut for a week-long introduction to college life for Cristo Rey Network students. Jazzmen Crafton '12 is one of just 20 students in the nation selected for the four-week Science Training and Research (STAR) Program of the College of William & Mary. Funded by a Howard Hughes Medical Institution grant, STAR students will spend four weeks immersed in the biological sciences with visits to science facilities, including NASA. Two other students will also be exploring the sciences at Frostburg University's Regional Math and Science Center.

Back-to-School
No matter what they have going on, the typical Cristo Rey Jesuit student enjoys a very short break. Many incoming freshmen reported this week for an intensive math and English program. The rest of the class will join them on August 9 for Freshmen in Training and by the end of August, the whole school will be back in force; and have its first senior class.
