Broadway star Cristin Milioti is going to shame all of the "How I Met Your Mother" fans who think that she's not good enough to play Ted Mosby's wife. According to a Sept. 21 report by SheKnows, the actress is so dedicated to portraying the mother perfectly that she's learning a whole new skill.
As you probably know, the mother is the bass player in the band that performs at Robin and Barney's wedding. To make herself more believable as a musician, Cristin is actually learning to play bass guitar. "In fact, one of the guys from 'Once' who played the bass on our show, Will Connolly, is helping me," she said. "I'm playing one Radiohead bass line now. I look like I know what I'm doing, but I shouldn't jump up onstage with the Red Hot Chili Peppers anytime soon. I would embarrass myself."
Cristin Milioti should have no problem picking up this musical skill, because she taught herself to play piano in just ten days for her "Once" audition. Her dedication scored her a role in the Broadway play, and it will probably help her to win over even the most skeptical of "How I Met Your Mother" fans. At least Milioti's Broadway experience means that she'll have no problem making breakfast foods sing show tunes.
As Salon reports, some "HIMYM" fans have been complaining about the way that Cristin looks. Apparently a lot of people thought that Ted (Josh Radnor) would have to end up with someone who is way prettier than Robin (Cobie Smulders) to make him finally forget about his longtime love. However, Ted's quest to find the perfect woman hasn't been about finding the most physically attractive mate—he's been searching for someone who wants to get the same things out of life that he does. It's been pointed out that Cristin looks a lot like Lily (Alyson Hannigan), and this is kind of perfect since Ted has always envied the relationship that she and Marshall (Jason Segal) have.
A lot of people might say that Cristin isn't as sexy as Cobie Smulders, but it's ridiculous that some fans think that she's not pretty enough to be the mother—she's a uniquely stunning star with gorgeous doe eyes and an adorable figure. She also looks very friendly and warm, and it's impossible not to fall in love with her simply based on the few interviews that she's given since being revealed as the mother. The more you learn about her, the more convinced you'll be that there's no better woman to play the love of Ted's life.
Of course Ted does still have to work through his feelings for Robin, and if Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) learns about them, this could spell trouble for his friendship with Ted. However, once the mother enters the picture, hopefully she and Barney quickly bond by singing things out.
In possibly related HIMYM news, Alyson Hannigan recently tweeted this about the Emmys: "Also HIMYM fans, there is a little fun for you tonight during the show…" So could Neil Patrick Harris help skeptical fans warm to Cristin by singing an Emmys duet with her? Stay tuned!
