Santos, 28, was originally being looked at to fight Ediane Gomes in the Invicta FC 8 headlining slot, but that fight seemed to be put in jeopardy when the Muay Thai ace accepted a fight on the March 28 Lion Fight card.
Now that the date has arrived for Lion Fight 14, "Cyborg" is already looking ahead at her return to MMA. It'll be sooner than expected, possibly as early as May.
While "Cyborg" still is unlikely to fight Gomes since her goal is to drop down to 135 pounds, there's a good chance she'll fight Lauren Murphy at Invicta FC 8 for the promotion's bantamweight strap.
I am fighting Friday. I am fighting in May for Invicta, [and then] in July again for Lion Fight, [and then] in August for Invicta again. I asked for more fights. I want to do this. If [the cut to bantamweight] doesn’t work, I still want to fight more. I want to do more for women’s MMA and muay Thai.
Analysis: Fans of women's MMA have been waiting patiently for months on an announcement regarding the next Invicta FC card, and they now have a bit more clarity on the matter.
Invicta FC officials were originally targeting April for the Invicta FC 8 card, but it appears waiting an extra month will allow them to have "Cyborg" on the bill.
If "Cyborg" is able to slip past Murphy at Invicta FC 8, she hopes to fight Ronda Rousey in a year-end UFC fight.
You need to be ready for war -- any girl -- you need to be ready. I think Ronda has been given the chance to choose her opponent too much. I think she is running from me and doesn’t want to make this fight,” Justino said. “She said she would fight Gina Carano at 145 pounds, but only Gina. When I saw this, I was laughing. Why Gina and not ‘Cyborg’? She is scared. Gina has had a lot of time where she has not been fighting. Last time she fought was against me in 2009. Ronda thinks it will be easy, but I hope that Gina comes out and has a good camp and it is a good fight if it happens.
