Bonaro Overstreet: “We are not only our brother’s keeper, in countless large and small ways, we are our brother’s maker.”

Starting this episode, there is a lot of doubt as to how it would unfold. The scenes with the two twins, Jesse and Wallace, are alright. Once they get to the church, it is great, but before then, it’s not so interesting. A lot of concentration has to be on trying to remember which twin is which. It is confusing, especially since a lot of the episode is watching how Jesse acts. The viewers are already familiar with Wallace, and so it’s all about learning about Jesse, which is hard when the two of them are in a scene together. Was anyone else confused during the episode?
The writers pull out one of the great tactics in this episodes: interrogation scenes! Anytime there is an interrogation in an episode, it is fantastic. This episode is no exception. The interrogation between the mom Carla and Hotch is fantastic because it isn’t just Hotch interrogating a witness. It may start out that way, but quickly Hotch realizes that he isn’t dealing with an innocent. This is the first time that the viewers see that Carla is as unstable as her sons. It would have been great to have another interrogation scene with her at the end. Did Carla surprise you or did you think she was a little insane since the beginning?
Here are quick thoughts on elsewhere in the episode. Hotch is no longer up for the section chief position. The way the writers handle this is interesting. Basically, the higher ups decide that Hotch is too valuable in the field, and so he should stay there. It’s definitely one way to wrap up that storyline. Personally, I thought that he would end up having to make the choice of what job to take, but it never came down to that. One thing that never entirely made sense is Carla setting up the trust for Jesse and his father. It kept being said that it is how Carla manipulates Jesse. Was it because she made him feel loved or because he was getting money? This just never quite added up to me. What did you think of the episode?
