'Criminal Minds' fulfills fantasies

Rossi: “I’m sure there is some other psychopath out there planning his next attack.”

“The Gathering” is the newest episode of Criminal Minds. This article contains spoilers, so beware! Criminal Minds airs Wednesday nights on CBS (KHOU).

The BAU is forced to abandon the replicator case, for now, and turn their attentions to a new case. Even though the replicator case is only the focus for five minutes, the writers do a good job of answering and posing some questions. Hopefully they will continue to have little scenes like this in future episodes. There is a brief mention of protective details, but the writers don’t really expand much more on what measures are being taken to protect the team. Do you have any theories on the replicator?

The unsub’s face is revealed less than halfway through the episode, but there’s a twist. He’s not the unsub that’s doing all the killing. This is a great twist, but unfortunately there’s not much time spent on the dynamic of the two unsubs: Peter and Mark. They clearly have an interesting relationship. It would have been nice to expand the confrontation scene between the two of them or to delve a little bit more into Mark, and how he got into his position as a the leader of that therapy group. What did you think of Mark and Peter?

Garcia and Kevin are still working on their friendship goal. Honestly as great as it is to see a personal storyline, especially one featuring Kevin, this isn’t the most entertaining thing. There doesn’t seem to be a point to this storyline. Unless there is something sinister happening with Garcia’s friend Sam, the writers must have meant this to be just some cute, stand alone storyline. The problem with this is that not that much happens in this storyline. There doesn’t seem to be any resolution to a problem or any real growth. What did you think of the storyline?
