Haley: “You’re a great dad. You always have been.”
Hotch: “Jack misses you too.”
Haley: “Well then you should talk about me more. You should talk more period. He’s not like you. He needs to hear the words.”
Tonight’s episode is season nine episode five, and it pays tribute to Haley. She dies in season five episode nine. I see what you did there, writers. First off, it is great to see Haley again. Episode 100 just destroyed any semblance of happiness I once had. The writers manage to make this episode about Hotch needing to let go and move on. Haley even gives him back the ring. The scenes of her watching snippets of him and Jack is fantastic. It is great to see her and Hotch together again. Inviting Foyet is strange, but then again, dream sequences are strange. Did you enjoy seeing Haley once again?
A big part of this episode is focusing on Hotch. It is a little hard to understand why Hotch all of a sudden started bleeding internally. He looks terrible at the beginning of the episode, and then he just collapses. The writers seem to just want viewers to go with this whole “Hotch is dying” thing. Let’s be honest here, they were never really going to kill Hotch, and based off the preview, he is back out in the field rather quickly. Since there is such a focus on Hotch, the case doesn’t take up much space, which is fine. All of Hotch’s scenes are fantastically heartbreaking. What is your favorite moment from Hotch’s storyline?
As far as the case goes, it is okay. The viewers spend a little bit of time with the unsub, Eddie, and his daughter Samantha. This is an unusual case in the sense that it is a kidnapping, sort of. There are some murders, but they are spree kills, nothing too gruesome. The main point of the case is the relationship between father and daughter. This is why it is okay that the writers show scenes of them together because it is building towards that hostage negotiation, which is completely heartbreaking. Anytime the writers have a character bring up some of their personal past it is great. JJ tells her story of her sister to Eddie in hopes of connecting with him. What did you think of the case?
