“Blood Relations” is tonight’s episode of “Criminal Minds.” This article contains spoilers, so beware! To review the last case file, click here. “Criminal Minds” airs Wednesday nights at 8 on CBS (KHOU).

Members of feuding families are being killed in a small town. Family feuds are always something else. It is a little difficult at times to remember who belongs to which family. In the end, this is the work of a forsaken child. It is a tad convenient that the FBI only interrogates two heads of the families, and they end up being the parents of the child. Having more conversations with other members of both families could have been interesting. Perhaps the writers did not do this because it would have been difficult to keep everyone straight, but at times, I had that problem anyways. What did you think of the case?

The case of the week deals with a long standing family feud in a small town in Virginia. The writers do a decent job of showing how deep this feud goes. There is more of a focus on family interviews, which not only say a lot about what the two families think of the FBI, but also what they think of the other family. It would have been interesting to get more of a glimpse of the town outside of the Howard and Lee families. This could have been done through a witness statement or something. There are a couple of scenes with local police, but it would have been great to see more. Anytime the writers focus on the town and the locals, it is usually fun to watch. What are your thoughts on the Howard and Lee families?

Here are some thoughts on elsewhere in the episode. It is great that we don’t see the unsub’s face. We are shown his back and profile, but we never see all of him. This helps keep the suspense there, and so it is easy to believe that Caleb aka Sam Kaplan could be the unsub. Blake has a moment in this episode, although unfortunately it is a near death moment. There is not much time spent there, but the writers do include a scene between her and JJ. Hopefully Blake’s trauma will not be swept under the rug. Did you enjoy the episode?
