Crime Stoppers seeking tips on murderer running loose

Crime Stoppers of Wichita Falls, Texas today requested help from the public in finding the person who murdered David Mays in his own home last week.

Wichita Falls Police Department has released information that around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, a man wearing a ski mask invaded the house in the 1000 block of Woods Street in Wichita Falls. He shot and killed David Mays while the victim's wife and children were in the house.

Officer Robert Woodruff, Wichita Falls Police Department, said, "The wife did hear it. She came out of the bedroom, and she was told to go back into the bedroom and she did."

It was at that time officers believe Mays was shot and killed by the early morning assassin.

Detective Brad Love of WFPD is leading the investigation into the savage murder.

Woodruff further said, "They (the family of Mays) want justice, and as the police department, that's what we want to provide for the family, and not just the family, but to the community. I mean this guy needs to be taken care of, and taken off the streets and put in jail."

The suspect is described as a black male, who was wearing a ski mask, dark pants and a dark hoodie.

Anyone in the community with information regarding this brutal murder should call 761-7792 or 720-5000.

Readers may also call Crime Stoppers 24 hours a day at 322-9888.

Anyone providing information leading to the arrest of the person who deprived the Mays family of their husband, brother and father is eligible to receive a $1,000.00 reward with approval of the board.

Widow Renique Mays said the killer had destroyed her family. She further said Mays loved his family and that love was returned by his family.

She said she'd appreciate any help anyone could provide in solving her husband's murder case.

Catherine Mays, the victim's sister, said that everyone loves her brother. She also said the only thing which could bring the family peace would be to see the murderer apprehended and justice meted out to him.
