Crews recover 2 of 8 Corvettes from massive sinkhole

In early February a sinkhole opened up under the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky swallowing eight Corvettes that were on display. Now, according to an article published by Fox News on March 3, crews have successfully retrieved two of the eight cars from the massive cavity.

Fox News reports that crews were able to pull the 2009 Corvette ZR1 "Blue Devil" and the 1993 "Ruby Red" 40th Anniversary Corvette from the 40-foot-wide sinkhole on Monday. Though both cars were damaged, crews were able to start and drive the “Blue Devil” moments after setting it down.

Officials say the black 1962 Corvette is next to be removed from the sinkhole, but there is a massive piece of concrete resting on the front of the car, which will have to be lifted at the same time as the car.

Reports indicate that the remaining five Corvettes will be more difficult to retrieve, but officials expect bring them up in the coming weeks.
