Aimee Creger had another remarkable performance over the week and it got her weekly pitching honors for the fifth time this season and the 13th for her career.
A senior ace from Yukon (Okla,), Creger (21-1) announced as the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week by the league office on Monday. She pitched two games in leading Tulsa to a three-game sweep of UTSA late last week in San Antonio, Texas.
In the first game Saturday, Creger pitched 16 strikeouts and allowed two hits in a 2-1 win for the Golden Hurricane (41-5 overall, 15-2 in Conference USA). A solo-shot home run by Haley Henshaw in the 11th inning won the game TU.
Creger tossed a two-hit shutout with 11 Ks in a 4-0 win in the first game on Friday. That game was highlighted by a three run-homer from Catherine Horner.
Creger followed up with a save after relieving Bailey Erwin in the seventh inning to finish Tulsa’s 12-11 win against the Roadrunners (20-25, 7-10) in game two. The Golden Hurricane had to rally from a 9-4 deficit with eight-run inning in the seventh to win. A two-run single by Jill Barrett along with two-shot and triple-homers from Erica Sampson and Julie Kernen, respectively accounted for the bulk of the comeback.
Tulsa will meet in-state rival Oklahoma State Wednesday in Stillwater.
