Creger’s 13 Ks lifts No. 20 TU over Arkansas

Aimee Creger had another banner day on the mound. The senior pitching ace from Yukon, Okla. forced 13 strikeouts in 20th-ranked Tulsa’s 6-1 victory over Arkansas Wednesday at the Collins Softball Complex.

Creger (9-1) pitched a complete game, allowing just one run on five hits.

The one run she gave up came when Tulsa (21-3) was up 4-0 in the top of the fourth inning. Chloe Oprzedek doubled into leftfield, scoring Razorback courtesy runner Ashley Martindale.

Jodi Emiston hit a single into right field in the first inning, plating Shelby Blanton to make it a 1-0 game.

The Golden Hurricane got three runs in the bottom of the third.

With two outs, Cierra Highes singled in Erica Sampson to make it 2-0, then came an 2 RBI double from Catherine Horner, scoring Hughes and Jill Roye.

Jill Barrett led TU at the plate going 2-for-4 with one runs core and one run batted in.

Barrett made it a 5-1 in the fourth with a right field triple that scored Haley Henshaw. Sampson singled in Barrett on one out for the next run.

TU opens Conference USA play this weekend at Marshall. Two games are set for Saturday and one on Sunday.
