Michael Dailly, the original creator of "Grand Theft Auto," is recreating the series' first version of the now infamous Liberty City using "GameMaker: Studio," video game website Kotaku reported today.
Dailly, who also created the hit "Lemmings," is now the Head of Development at YoYo Games, working on various mobile, console and web games, as well as showcasing the power of the "GameMaker: Studio" software. Although the landscape won't be playable, Dailly said he would be able to provide a virtual tour of the scenery once it's completed.
You can track his progress on his Twitter feed, where he posts pictures of his progress.
Although it pales in comparison to what the GTA series has become today, the original "Grand Theft Auto," in spite of its mediocre graphics, went on to sell 2.32 million copies on the Sony Playstation, according to video game sales tracker VGChartz.com.
"Grand Theft Auto V," the newest addition in the series, released on Sept. 17, has already sold over 15 million copies.
