Usually children are not given restaurant gift cards, but a grandmother wanted something creative to give her three grandchildren, ages 7, 9, and 13. So she gave them gift cards to their favorite restaurants. In fact, she gave them a gift card for each month of the year.
This is an ideal gift because she usually takes them out to eat at least once a month anyway. The last Wednesday in each month they have half day school sessions, so they get to go out to eat with their grandmother in addition to going out on other occasions.
The grandmother had a very creative idea. Instead of buying gift cards from the individual restaurants, she designed redeemable gift cards to be used throughout the year. She printed the store's logo in color on card stock paper, laminated the sheets, cut out the individuals cards and put them in a case that cassettes tapes come in.
Take a look a the process through the slideshow to see how this was done. Also, take a look at the grandchildren's favorite restaurants. Their all time favorite is Golden Corral. Therefore, they get to go to that restaurant twice, if they like. Also, a couple of "Your Choice" cards are included just in case they want to try a new restaurant.
The restaurants include:
- Golden Corral
- Red Lobster
- Olive Garden
- Cracker Barrel
- TGI Friday
- Ruby Tuesday
- Johnny Rockets
Since there are three grandchildren, they must all agree to go to same restaurant on each occasion. The cards expire Dec. 31, 2014.
Now wasn't that a wonderful and creative idea?
