Creationist Ken Ham says NASA is a waste of money and aliens don’t exist

Infamous creationist Ken Ham declared in his blog on Sunday he is shocked at the hundreds of millions of dollars which have been spent over the years on the U.S. space program and the search for extraterrestrial life. Ham, who recently debated Bill Nye the Science Guy over the origins of the universe, evolution and creationism, says God did not create aliens and therefore there is no reason to search for them. According to Ham, the NASA’s space exploration program and search for alien life are fed by their rebellion against God and the desperation to provide evidence that life can evolve in different locations given the right conditions. It is his belief the space program exists solely to prove their theory of evolution.

Ham, president of the Creation Museum in Petersburg, KY explained how Genesis teaches that Earth was specially created, it is unique and it is the focus of God’s attention. It did not evolve. It is Ham’s belief that Christians should not expect alien life to be popping up across the universe. It is science that says life arose on this planet spontaneously and evolved into complex organisms. Therefore, science needs to prove since evolution has happened here, it should happen elsewhere in the universe too.

Is the idea of extraterrestrial life Biblical? Most scientists believe that one day we will actually discover life on other planets. The Bible doesn’t specifically say whether or not there is animal or plant life in outer space. Rather than looking to extraterrestrials to answer life deepest questions, Ham suggests people look to the revelation of the Creator in the Bible and through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Ham says, “I do believe there can’t be other intelligent beings in outer space because of the meaning of the Gospel. You see, the Bible makes it clear that Adam’s sin affected the whole universe. This means that any aliens would also be affected by Adam’s sin, but because they are not Adam’s descendants, they can’t have salvation.” He further explained, “Jesus Christ came to die on a Cross to redeem mankind from sin and death that our ancestor, Adam, introduced.”

He continued, “God’s Son stepped into history to be Jesus Christ, the Godman, to be our relative, and to be the perfect sacrifice for sin, the Savior of mankind. Jesus did not become the GodKlingon or the GodMartian! Only descendants of Adam can be saved. God’s Son remains the Godman as our Savior.” Ham says the Gospel is very clear, salvation through Christ is only for the Adamic race, human beings who are all descendants of Adam. Even though he does not believe in aliens, Ham says even if they did exist they could not be saved.
