Creationism Vs. the big bang theory

Evangelical Christian have some very definite biblical beliefs about the origin of the Universe.  Most everyone is pretty sure about that.  However, most serious Christians do not believe that the Universe is something created out of the chaos of an unbelievably large explosion eons ago that the scientific community has named “the Big Bang”.   Some may say that this Christian analogy is crazy, nuts, or demented.

Lets look at some logic if that's a possibility for those who don't believe. The fact is that there is really no 'solid' scientific proof (yes, the word ‘proof’ rears its ugly head again) that the Universe was created by the Big Bang. It's simply science applying their brand of logic based on scant information that they have obtained through space robots, telescopes, etc, etc. This is the same kind of logic that Al Gore and his people apply to the "Global Warming" theory.  Recently, it has come out through the unwanted release of emails, that 'some' in the scientific community have cheated and/or lied about their findings.  That now leads most to believe that Global Warming is nothing more than a hoax even though our government and gov. agencies continue to push for a global warming cure.  Simply put, the global warming issue is nothing more than a gimmick to make money and give power to those in high places.

God is in control atheists!  And God alone created the heavens and the earth.  And, He alone will make the decision when to destroy His creation, that's biblical. Humans are incapable of ruining the earth, or changing the weather on a permanent basis.  Any of that would be akin to changing the rotation of the earth by humans.  It simply can't happen.

To think that we could live in a Utopian world without government intervention is simply a dream, but a great dream.  However many in the scientific community will continue to use the "Chicken Little" example and tell us that the sky is falling and that 'man' alone can change it in order to keep control.

The vast majority of their theories on this are created with computer modeling.  The down side is that in most cases that you read about, the computer comes up with another theory every time they rerun the test.

The Bible tells us that it was God who created the heavens and the earth (Gen. 1:1), and Christians believe that!.  However, many scientists, and all 'true' Atheists say that's hogwash.  Let's think about it for a moment!  Did you ever know any order to come out of chaos?  With most scientific interpretations of chaos, the only thing you get is more chaos. Never on the face of this earth has order come from chaos! Nope, not once, and Christians do not believe that the God's Universe was created by the silly Big Bang!

Whether it's a building implosion with dynamite, a military bombing, a nuclear explosion, a tornado or hurricane, simply put; out of that kind of chaos comes even more chaos, not organization. Have you ever watched a building implosion and hear someone holler out.........'hey look across the street, there's a new office building on that lot that was vacant a minute ago'. That sounds stupid, but that's just how stupid the Big Bang theory is to Christians.

God is in control!  Stop fighting it!  He and He alone can make things right.  People simply can HELP, but certainly are not the cure for all of the worlds ills.  Put your trust in the Lord!

Obviously you have no clue. I suggest you read serious books other than Bible. Bible, Koran or other religious books are not sources for scientific information and if you follow them to the letter, you will be a criminal.

If you think god in control and science is believable, then do not use result of science. Don't use any modern devices. Don't go to doctor, don't use car, etc. You can go to stone ages and argue then you will have some merit.

Tell you what Jake. I won't attempt to dissect the finest points of the Bible, since I cannot read the original texts anyway.

And you don't try to discuss science that you clearly know nothing about. For instance, Big Bang theory involves a singularity and consistent physical laws, not 'chaos.'

"Humans are incapable of ruining the earth, or changing the weather on a permanent basis."

That is exactly why we don't need evangelical Christians within a mile of our energy policy or the EPA.

Thank you, Jake, for this article. The others that have written comments here apparently place their faith in ideas made up by man instead of placing their faith in God.

Georges Lemaitre may have credit for the start of the Big Bang Theory, but I don't put a lot of stock in teaching from Catholics anyway. It was Catholics that taught that the world was flat, even though the Bible tells us that it's round (Is. 40:22). Even before people understood the water cycle, God told us about it in the Bible (Jer. 10:13).

If someone says that they are a Christian, but don't believe the Bible's account of Creation, then they are not truly Christians. Moses wrote about the Creation in Genesis, and Jesus said, "For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?" (John 5:46-47)

The ironic thing is that every time people argue against science they don't understand, they place limits on God.

Joshua Rivers, the Bible does in fact state the Earth is flat and the center of the universe, despite all astronomical evidence to the contrary. And don't forget, the Bible was written by man, not God.

    Dude:
You are wrong. The bible does not say the earth is flat. Google the science facts in the bible and you will be surprised. When you people say that men wrote the bible you always leave out "divinely inspired" men. This is very important because the "Holy Spirit" inspired them. How else can 40 different authors over thousands of years write a book containing prophetic events that have never been proven wrong! God created the natural laws, such as gravity, etc., but he also created spiritual laws. For example, if you want to find the truth about who you are you will have to treat both the natural and the spirit. Take a look at my new science called "biomatrixgenesis" at majorray.com.

This demonstrates a non-understanding of the matter because it uses a false analogy. The exploding building on earth is already in the gravity well of the planet and therefore will be unduly influenced by it, most notably by conforming to the ground surface. Thus the analogy is false because it presupposes an environment that is not the environment of space...not to mention that "explosion" is a weak comparison to the inflationary period after the singularity.

Furthermore, please explain why the universe is expanding in light of your denial of Big Bang cosmology.

Please explain why cosmic microwave background radiation is not evidence for the Big Bang.

  • Nick 4 years ago

No Ray I'm not wrong. Psalm 93:1: “Thou hast fixed the earth immovable and firm”

(There's a few like that one above)

Daniel 4:10-11. “saw a tree of great height at the centre of the earth...reaching with its top to the sky and visible to the earth's farthest bounds.”

Matthew 4:8 “Once again, the devil took him to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in their glory.”

Revelation 7:1 “After this, I saw four angels stationed at the four corners of the earth holding back the four winds"

There's also passages that refer to the sun stopping in the sky for the length of a day, not the Earth, the sun. Point is, that if one takes the Bible literally, it quickly becomes absurd. It makes more sense if one takes some passages or stories as allegorical. Problem is then that everyone disagrees over which should be taken as allegorical and which should be taken literal & every 'true' believer 'knows' that their interpretation is the 'right' one.

  • Nick 4 years ago

So Ray, while I'm sure that all the passages in the Bible which imply that that Earth is flat and the universe revolves around the Earth in your opinion should be taken more as an allegory rather than literally, here's another allegory for you to consider:

God said "Let there be light!"

For some people, this means the Big Bang. Others claim He did not do it this way. I say, who are we mere mortals to say what God can or cannot do?

How can you talk about PROOF and use the bible as your source? Their is NO prooof of 99.99% of the crap in the bible.
I don't agree with the big bang theory either but I refuse to settle for an even worse answer like the one in the bible.

Oh and global warming... have you noticed the increase in the intensisty and frequency of storms this past year? tornados, hurricanes, rain, and even snow. Warm air increases the intensisty of storms and holds more moisture for larger snow storms. learn something about the science of weather and then you can talk.

why would you want to sit back and do nothing, claiming god will handle it when there is evidence that global warming could be happening. Religion needs to get out of the way of progress and improvment of the world. That's been the same problem for the last 2000 years!

"Did you ever know any order to come out of chaos? With most scientific interpretations of chaos, the only thing you get is more chaos."

You're absolutely wrong. In a closed system (one with a finite amount of matter and energy where no energy is introduced) thinks tend to descend from order to chaos. In an open system receiving energy from an outside source, things can organize from chaos to order. The earth is an open system - it is powered by a massive continuous input of energy from the sun. This powers life, allowing the buildup of greater order. The universe as a whole is a closed system (it is believed), and is slowly descending into chaos. Someone with so many objections to science should take the time to learn a bit about science.

Yep, that's how science works. Science doesn't claim to prove things absolutely. Science constructs theories based on the evidence available. When newer, more accurate evidence becomes available, science comes up with newer, more accurate theories.

"This is the same kind of logic that Al Gore and his people apply to the 'Global Warming' theory."

Yep, and the Theory of Evolution, and the Theory of Relativity and the Theory of Gravity. But of course, gravity is not mentioned in the Bible. Maybe it's just another bit of bogus scientific nonsense, huh?

There is no either/or. The physical and material observations of man are not in contradiction to the Genesis creation. Contradistinctions should not be confused with contradictions. For example, it is true that man is made from the dust of the earth, but he is also born of water and of spirit. The bible deals with all these contradistinctions while scientists only deal with one aspect and call everything else a lie. The spiritually blind are incapable of finding the whole truth since they can only partially discern truth within their carnal minds. True wisdom is not afforded most scientists. Read the Genesis Molecule.

I literally just lost all hope in Extreme Christains (or any extreme person belonging to any relgious group for that matter). I have respect for theists, but not when they gabble about absolute drivel that makes no sense. Thanks though, you did make me laugh when you said 'there is really no 'solid' scientific proof', thanks. Just brightened my Tuesday night

Jesus' non-religious short answer on the big bang theory of creation could be something like: An explosion in a library does not create a dictionary.

  • bbbynumouterlimitz@yahoo.com 3 months ago

The trouble is that creationist dont use enough science to make their point. example a black hole happens when a star no longer has the energy to stay a star and thus its energy is not enough to keep it from colapsing (not good speller) thus the gravity of all that matter is to much for space to bear. ? if only the matter from one star is to heavy for space to handle how is it that ALL mater of the univers found enough energy to explode in the big bang, all matter in one place as a molacule would be so heavy it would be the largest black hole the big suck lol. next to elvolve living from non living. you not only have to arrange dna to creat life you have to make it self replicating. next their are no fossils of 2 4 16 32 54 cells it goes from 1 cell to 100 thats the missing link.If (and we do ) we have fossils of one cell creatures and have no in between, why. next if the sun was shinning on the earth for only 5 millon years it would be so big (because it uses its fuel and gets smallerr every day ) earth would be the temp of venus , and they say earth is 40 billion years old.you cant change science. WE as creationist need to arm ourselves with SCience. facts rule. If you think otherwise. my name is my e mail. looking foward to talking to anyone who can explain how my SCIENCE is wrong .
