Northeast Creation Ministries (NECM) is having several creation conferences right here in Maine! New England, as we all know, is a difficult place to discuss theology because of its controversial and personal nature. In particular, it is common for Christians to struggle with their faith when faced with difficult subjects like the Evolution/Creation topic. Worse, some churches dismiss or frown upon Origins discussion. This is what these conferences are designed to address because Christians cannot be timid here. We are encouraged, in 1 Peter 3:15, to "sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear." This is our responsibility, and NECM is purposed to equip Christians in science and theology without any cost to them.
The first for 2012 is on Sunday, March 11 at God's House on the Hill, a Foursquare church in Sanford. This will be an all-day event with several speakers centering on reaching people who are already Christians. Specifically, their topics will cover the essentials of the Christian faith, including the foundational truths laid out in Genesis; a study of Apostle Paul’s apologetics and how he reached some of the world’s toughest crowds with the Gospel; and the relationship between science and faith (Can they sync or are they opposite? Can a scientist be a Christian who believes in literal Genesis history?).
The second conference is April 13th-15th at First Baptist of Waldoboro. This is going to be a more dynamic conference due to the large variety of speakers. They will cover everything from the basics of apologetics to classic contemporary science and Biblical integration and interpretation. For example, one seminar will examine the fossil record as it relates with Noah’s flood. Please check their website for more details on this powerful conference.
The third is the second annual New England Creation Conference which will be taking place in the Topsham/Brunswick area. This is going to be a four-day conference in June (the date is yet to be determined). Dr. Robert Carter from Creation Ministries International is the primary speaker at this conference. Dr. Carter is an internationally acclaimed expert in the Origins debate. He will be working alongside NECM’s Troy Ancona, Andrew Guerette, Allan Beck, and Ken Barratta.

NECM’s staff have been trained by Answers in Genesis and Creation Training Initiative as well as having degrees in theology and science.
