We all have routines that we follow day to day. Work week: wake up, shower, get dressed, grab breakfast/ coffee, work, work through lunch, work some more, get off, go home, work through dinner, sleep and repeat! I’m sure we all have some variances within that schedule but the point is most people who know you can look at a clock and have a pretty good idea of where you are and what you are doing.
With that being said how many of you have something else you’d like to add into that routine for you. For many people it is fitness and taking better care of themselves that they are missing or want to add to their routine. The fitness aspect has a lot of components. What should I be doing? How do I do that? Where do I do that? How long and how many times do I need to do that? Then the crowd favorite coming from women is will the sweat my hair out? Then for the those with kids there is the concern of, what am I going to do with my kids while I work out?
All of these questions have merit but they all can also be resolved. Try different types of classes and workouts and see what works for you in terms of both time and activity. In this day of social media you have tons of different groups that have monthly challenges to promote fitness and expose you to the fitness at home side of things. Then there are tons of classes that you can take so that you can workout with others like Zumba, Hip Hop Cardio, Bootcamp, Pole, Step, Kickboxing, TRX, and Boxxing, just to name a few. These classes appeal to both males and females and give you a chance to feel like you are having fun while sweating off the calories. Once you find something you like, negotiate that time into your life. A regular fitness regimen can fight off many diseases and ailments.
Another major item missing out of most schedules is down/ leisure time. Whether you’re dealing with self-employment of going into your 9-5 you still need time to debrief and relax. Set a few hours out of the week that are for you and only you. That alone time is important to detox from the worldly and get in tune with yourself and your higher being. Last but definitely not least make time for others. Everyone is different in what their 'family' consist of, but make sure that you have a family night or date night with your kids. Never neglect that time with you significant other because that is the person who stand by you during those annoying times. Then make sure you still make time for your friends! Many times we look and wonder where did our social lives go and it's because we didn't dedicate any time to our friends.
Creating balance in your life is not an easy adjustment but it is one that will be worthwhile in the long run.
